3/21/2023 0 Comments Starsector ships dont fightYou'd probably want it in a destroyer or cruiser. Early on I like to have one in one of those tanky frigates and I'll tell it to escort a carrier to keep it out of the way. Invest in a command ship - the special Operations Deck is very useful but it is expensive. The Retreat order is a lot more effective than rally waypoints at forcing allied ships to disengage from danger - you can also set the things it is fighting to avoid and that works well if you want the ship to engage elsewhere.Ĥ. I missclick a lot and set waypoints when I don't mean to. ![]() Do all your commanding while paused - you can refund a lot of orders if you are paused while giving them. I use this at the start of a fight a lot to tell all of my frigates to search and destroy so they go and do their own thing and tell my main warships to engage the enemy warships for just one command point.Ģ. ![]() Understand the 'Command Channel Open' mechanic - after you give one order, you can give as many orders as you like as long as the command channel is open. I've been playing a lot the last few days and I had the same problem as you in the beginning but I think I've cracked it:ġ. I sm also one of the newbies, hi! I just made this account. Where is the space for tactics in the battle, what am I missing? So what is the strategy or tricks I need to do to reliably win this mission (or generally battles) without causalities? Also, it seems that the way it is controlled automatically (moving around, doding, alternating weapons, aiming all at the same time) is something I would clearly not do better manually. I just lost 2 commands basically for nothing.Ĥ) I know that I can personally control one flag ship, but it feels so insignificant in the bigger scale of things, that I rarely did it. So, I need to quickly cancel the command and either focus the fire on differnt ships that are close now, or order to go away. But in few seconds, the ship starts running away behind the enemy ships. For example, I focus fire on a ship that is close to my ships. How can I keep the ships in line and not doing stupid things when I have so limited amount of commands? (Which are also executed very looosely due to 1).ģ) Due to 1 and 2, it is hard to do any specific movements that would help me to win. It is like you would limit somehow to have 1 action per 30 seconds when doing micro. I order ships to gather on one place, and they just don't stack, they float around screen-away from the order target.Ģ) I don't get the meaning behind the very limited amount of commands you can do. I order a ship that is in danger to go away, and it just continues fighting and dies. I got stuck in the 3rd mission "For the greater Ludd" as I don't really know how can I win.ġ) I try to control the battle in the RTS way (like starcraft), but it generally don't work that great. So I decided to try the missions, to try to figure out the basic battle mechanics in the battle and to be more efficient. The general goal was to minimize the losses when winning fights, especially if I have a more powerful fleet But very often, even if I won the battle some of them died, which made the whole operation a loss. I tried to buy couble of the the best ships available (around 200k) to make them a damage dealers. But when I started fighting against bigger ships or stations, the carriers seem to be close to useless against big armored ships (as from what I understand, it is better to have slower - more single fire damage - weapons against heavy armored targets) and this is when it started to collapse for me. It somewhat worked when I had a lot of carriers. My "strategy" to get ahead was basically to try to have way bigger/better fleet then the enemies and kill them by focus firing enemies one by one. ![]() (Like ecr how armor works, how peak performance time works etc). There are many concepts that are not that well explained, so I went ahead and read through the whole wiki just to figure out some of the important things that I didn't know about. I got to something around a middle game (level 40) and I had more and more trouble staying ahead in battles.
